Pekalongan, IDN Times - Indonesian coffee is famous around the world. The International Coffee Organization (ICO) said that in 2018-2019, Indonesia became the fourth largest coffee producer in the world with a production value of 565 thousand tons per year.

Popular coffee varieties include arabica, robusta, and specialty coffee like civet coffee. Luwak coffee is excellent because of its special taste. The Ministry of Trade noted that in 2018, the price of 450 grams of Luwak coffee touched US $ 100 or around Rp1.5 million.

Owa coffee emerged in Pekalongan, Central Java. This coffee is produced from the conservation of the habitat of the Javan gibbon (Hylobates moloch) in the Petungkriyono tropical rainforest.
