Cintia Garai is a scientist, mainly focusing on great apes in Africa, and a wildlife filmmaker. After working in different tropical regions, she wanted additional scientific background in order to combine three elements: filmmaking, research, and conservation. She did her field research in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and received a doctorate degree in primatology at Kyoto University, Japan, in 2015. She works as a conservationist and continues filming and exploring the possibilities of using film in different ways to promote nature conservation.
