Guguk Customary Forest: A Hope for the Future of Sumatra's Remaining Rainforests

The Guguk Forest is a customary forest of the Guguk Indigenous community in Jambi, Sumatra. The people of the Guguk community have been living there for about 350 years, having decades of struggles over customary land rights.

This project will:

  1. Report how the Guguk Indigenous community is protecting its customary forest.
  2. Show how the customary forest relates to the lives of the Indigenous people's community and natural habitat of biodiversity.
  3. Report the threats from illegal gold mines inside the Guguk customary forest.
