This is how mining has gained ground in the Venezuelan Amazon, generating a significant destruction of the ecosystem and a negative impact on the health of the people who live there.
A team of three journalists living in Amazonas state, Venezuela, will investigate how the inhabitants of the communities near the gold and coltan mining areas have been affected by diseases caused by the contamination of mining: malaria, amebiasis, and vaginal and skin infections.
