Lilik Darmawan has been a journalist for 20 years working on a wide range of issues, including volcanic eruptions, floods, landslides, tsunamis, executions, and more.

Darmawan is a correspondent for Media Indonesia, a Jakarta-based media outlet. He is also a contributor to several other media. He has received many awards in journalism, from local and national awards, and he has written several books, including Treads of Struggle for Forest Justice (2019).

After graduating from the faculty of biology at General Soedirman University (Unsoed) in Purwokerto, he pursued a master's degree in communications. He became an activist for biodiversity and is a member of the Society of Indonesian Science Journalists (SISJ).
